Objectives: To foster research and research training on the pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of non-neoplastic blood diseases, including anemias, sickle cell disease, thalassemia; biology of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets, hematopoietic stem cells and the bone marrow niche, hemophilia and other abnormalities of hemostasis and thrombosis.. Funding encompasses a broad spectrum of hematology research, ranging from hematopoietic stem cell biology to drug development to treat blood diseases, ensuring the adequacy and safety of the nation's blood supply.
