Palau Family Planning Program - Project Summary The Republic of Palau Family Planning Program mission is to provide equitable, affordable, comprehensive and quality family planning and related preventive health services whereby individuals can make informed and responsible decisions in exercising personal choices in determining the number and spacing of their children. This is accomplished through provisions of a broad range of acceptable and effective family planning methods and services. The Title X Family Planning funds allows the Ministry of Health and Human Services to provide these services that are in accordance with nationally recognized standard of care to the people of Palau. In keeping with its mission, the program emphasizes the importance of preconception care and continually works to identify and develop strategies and partnerships with other public health programs and community based organization in addressing provisions of care directed at all women of childbearing ages and their partners including hard to reach and or vulnerable populations and adolescents. The Republic of Palau remains a medically underserved area with a great majority of the population at or below the federally determined poverty level. The Title X Family planning funds enable the Ministry of Health and Human Services to provide needed services to the people of Palau. The program over the years has made important improvements in the type and quality of services provided. The program is equipped and able to provide broader range of clinical services and consultation for medical services related to family planning services to clients via Tele-health. The quality of services are further enhanced with the ongoing trainings and conferences, FPAR 2.0 and the new rule that supported by Title X grants. The program continually works with the ongoing program evaluation in monitoring changes in the health environment that impacts Title X services. Continued federal and international support is a critical factor in the Ministry of Health and Human Services ability for future improvement and moving forward with family planning initiatives.
