The American Samoa Maternal, Infant, and Childhood Home Visit program have been providing home visiting services for communities identified as at-risk in American Samoa since 2011. AS MIECHV/Aiga Manuia implemented evidenced-based home visiting services utilizing the Health Families America Model with the Growing Great Kids curriculum. The program focuses on providing comprehensive home visiting services, providing support for pregnant women, first-time mothers, and newborn babies from the age of 0 to 5 who live in the American Samoa at-risk communities that face greater risk and barriers to achieving positive maternal and child health outcomes.
A. PURPOSE: The proposed home visiting project will focus on providing voluntary comprehensive home visit services to improve health outcomes for children and their families, encourage positive outcomes in child development, and school readiness, and enhance family well-being. The proposed population AS MIECHV focuses on is pregnant women, first time mothers, and children aged 0 to 5.
