A consortium facilitation, coordination, and data management center for the HVP - The Human Virome Project (HVP) is an ambitious initiative aimed at characterizing the lesser- explored communities of bacteriophage and eukaryotic viruses associated with the human body, collectively known as the virome. While the virome's impact on human well-being is comparable to the more extensively studied bacteriome, current microbiome assays often only partially capture viral members. The HVP seeks to address this knowledge gap through a blend of experimental, computational, and data generation efforts. To support these endeavors, a collaborative and state-of-the-art Consortium Organization and Data Collaboration Center (CODCC) is envisioned. Leveraging the team's expertise and resources from projects like the Human Microbiome Project and Integrative Human Microbiome Project, the CODCC is designed to be experienced, scientifically knowledgeable, and administratively and computationally efficient. Importantly, the CODCC is eager to collaborate with the entire HVP Consortium team to ensure smooth and equitable operations.
