Ion Channel Regulation - The FASEB Science Research Conference on Ion Channel Regulation, scheduled for August 3-7, 2025, at the Wellsworth Hotel in Southbridge, MA, is a biennial event that has been held since 2003. This conference will be be the most significant ion channel meeting of 2025, bringing together global experts to present cutting-edge research and engage in interdisciplinary discussions. Ion channels, crucial membrane proteins representing 1- 2% of human genes, are essential for various cellular processes and are implicated in numerous diseases, making them important targets for current and future therapeutics. The conference, co-chaired by Drs. Rose Dixon and Jonathan Silva, will feature a keynote lecture by Dr. Jeanne Nerbonne, ten scientific sessions with 30 invited speakers, poster sessions, and 23 short talks dedicated to trainees and early-career researchers. The conference has three main aims: to disseminate the latest discoveries and facilitate cross-pollination of ideas across subfields, to develop multidisciplinary networks integrating various approaches, and to support and train the next generation of ion channel researchers. The intimate setting with 100-175 participants participating in scientific discourse in a venue where they will also enjoy meals and social gatherings allows for more organic and less daunting exchanges among attendees at all career stages. Special features include flash talks, a trainee-first question format, and breakout sessions for early-career professionals. The conference will feature accomplished invited speakers and discussion leaders selected for their scientific expertise and contributions to the field, as well as the most promising early-career researchers showcasing innovative work. By achieving these aims, the 2025 FASEB SRC on Ion Channel Regulation will significantly contribute to advancing the field, nurturing emerging talent, and fostering collaboration in the field of ion channel research.
