This rural track expansion would occur in collaboration with the Regional Hospital of Central Alabama in Greenville, Butler County, Alabama, to serve the individuals in this underserved rural county designated as a Health Professional Shortage Area. CMC will also continue to work closely with UAB which is a partner with CMC’s current residency tracks providing critical hospital rotations and elective experiences for residents. This project will increase access to primary care and expand rurally-based residency education. In addition to the residency, CMC will establish a new FQHC clinic in Greenville by the end of Program Year 2. This clinic will serve as the continuity clinic site for residents and a long-term home for new physicians practicing in rural Alabama. CMC will partner with the Regional Hospital of Central Alabama and other local stakeholders to implement this training pipeline, expand primary care access, and build a sustainable health workforce.
