Montana Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence
Project Abstract
March 2023
The Montana Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence (MCADSV) submits this application for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, Rape Prevention and Education: Assessing Coalition Capacity to Advance Primary Prevention, CDC-RFA-CE-23-0006 funding announcement. MCADSV is the CDC designated state sexual assault coalition for the state of Montana. MCADSV was a prior grantee of the CDC under the DELTA prevention project.
MCADSV is aligned with the statement of purpose in the funding announcement. We believe this funding opportunity will allow us to begin to address these issues in a meaningful way. The funding is very limited, so our ability to fully address the purpose will be impacted by that limitation. But we will do what we can with the resources provided. It is always worth noting that Montana is a significantly large geographically, low-population density state with a great deal of distance and limited organizational/service provider capacity. A statewide project is often not realistic unless the funding is appropriate for the need. We will need to focus our intention and activities on the things we can address with the resources provided.
According to the funding announcement, our outcomes for this funding period should be as follows: increased understanding or staff expertise and available resources, increased understanding of available data sources used to identify populations and communities of focus, increased understanding of current partnerships, and how these partnerships are/are not meeting the current and future primary prevention and health equity work need, increased understanding of current technical assistance provision and how well it incorporates health equity. We commit to accomplishing these outcomes to the best of our ability in the time allowed.
The project will be accomplished with a team approach. All current MCADSV staff are well suited to administer this project and have extensive history and work experience on these issues. We will utilize existing partnerships and develop new ones as necessary. We will collaborate with the state RPE administrator as we are able.
