Newark Public Schools, the largest school district in New Jersey, is applying for the Health Equity Supplement. This proposal seeks to decrease health inequities by building teacher capacity to support youth in Newark reaching adulthood in the healthiest possible way. This proposal seeks to achieve the following goals:
(1) Increase staff capacity to use and implement health resources
(2) Enhance the cultural responsiveness and racial literacy of school faculty and staff
Through this additional funding, there will be an increase of Newark teachers trained in trauma informed care, Basic First Aid/CPR and cultural responsiveness and racial literacy.
