The Florida Department of Education (FDOE), in collaboration with Florida Department of Health (FDOH), will partner with several state agencies to successfully administer the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS). The YRBS is the only survey which gathers data on all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) identified youth risk behaviors and is funded through Florida?s cooperative agreement with the CDC. The Florida Youth Survey Workgroup consists of the Florida Departments of Education, Children and Families, Juvenile Justice, and Health. The Workgroup sponsors and funds specific surveys designed to gather information from middle and/or high school students on specific risk behaviors. When the data collected from survey respondents are adjusted to represent the population from which the sample was drawn, the resulting data are called weighted data. Since the Workgroup?s inception, Florida has achieved weighted data for the YRBS.The FDOE is the lead agency for conducting the School Health Profiles (Profiles) survey. The Profiles assist Florida?s education and health agencies in monitoring and assessing characteristics of school health; physical education; asthma management activities; family and community involvement in school health programs; and school health policies related to HIV infection/AIDS, tobacco-use prevention, and nutrition. The Florida Department of Education?s Office of Healthy Schools utilizes the Profiles, YRBS, and other data to assist with program planning and resource allocation.
