Nevada HIV Surveillance and Prevention Program (NV HSPP) requires the collaboration of several state and local agencies: Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS), Central Nevada Health District (CNHD), Northern Nevada Public Health (NNPH) [Washoe County or Reno, NV], Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) [Clark County or Las Vegas, NV], Nevada State Department of Corrections, and the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health (DPBH).
The purpose of this application is to allow Nevada to continue the work and momentum generated through The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) PS 18-1802 and CDC FOA PS 20-2010, by fostering and maintaining relationships that leverage our jurisdictions skills, expertise, and resources which has been critical in supporting public health initiatives such as Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE). Cross sector collaboration across Nevada’s jurisdictions to best serve the needs of priority populations who are at greater risk for HIV and STIs is a core component of how Nevada and its respective communities address equitable advancement of our disease surveillance, prevention, and treatment efforts. Nevada strategically identifies partners that provide crucial expertise in delivering tailored services to key populations. Common among all collaborations is the need to ensure equitable access to screening, prevention, and treatment services to communities who have disparate rates of HIV and STIs. NV HSPP plans to ensure all activities support the EHE initiative by striving to identify those new early HIV infection, linking newly diagnosed and those out of HIV care back to services, assisting those newly and previously diagnosed with achieving viral suppression, monitoring surveillance data for rapid response, and encouraging the community to adopt a status neutral approach to HIV testing and prevention services
