Project Abstract SummaryThe purpose of the Nevada Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program is to ensure all children in Nevada are screened for hearing loss at birth and those identified with hearing loss receive timely and appropriate audiological, educational and medical intervention. We promote the national EHDI goals and timelines developed by the Joint Committee on Infant Hearing. The EHDI Program is located within the Bureau of Child, Family and Community Wellness; Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health. As a result, Nevada EHDI has the opportunity to work closely and collaboratively with a variety of programs and agencies which provide support services to a similar population of infants, children, and familiesDuring the last 8 months, the EHDI Stakeholder Committee was re-structured to encompass a larger complement of diverse members and to address the unique needs of EHDI systems in Nevada. The collaborative efforts of this committee significantly assisted in meeting challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The ongoing work with an outside evaluation contractor for this cooperative agreement and other evaluation efforts has proven invaluable.Nevada EHDI begin this cooperative agreement with a data and evaluation coordinator who was hired just a couple months prior to the start date. That individual is fully trained, and past data analysis backlogs are up to date. The current legislative session is working to approve funding to upgrade the EHDI-IS.
