The Rhode Island Department of Health KIDSNET Program will collaborate with internal partners in the Newborn Screening Program and Office of Vital Records as well as external organizations including the Rhode Island Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Program and Early Intervention Head Start audiologists and managed care organizations to optimize and improve the health information systems and protocols used to assure that all infants receive newborn hearing screening and appropriate followup. These efforts will focus on collection of diagnostic audiology and Early Intervention enrollment data. Strategies and activities to improve timeliness and completeness of audiology and Early Intervention data include 1. EHDI Information System Optimization Maintenance and support of existing EHDI Information System (EHDI IS) enhancement of existing EHDI IS to meet federally recommended functional standards and to support use of data to improve timeliness and completeness of EHDI data collection and reporting. 2. Stakeholder Engagement Update listing of audiologists develop electronic exchange of diagnostic audiology data develop online referrals to Early Intervention and capacity and training for Managed Care Providers to run online EHDI Followup reports. 3. Data Analysis and Evaluation Routine and ad hoc data quality and deduplication data validation with Vital Records and Early Intervention development and implementation of a data analysis and evaluation plan to assess usability and usefulness of the EHDI IS and factors related to data quality and EHDI outcomes. 4. Data Submission and Dissemination sharing of EHDI data with key stakeholders and others using multiple strategies as well as data submission to CDC of the annual Hearing Screening and Followup Survey and a patient level deidentified dataset on all occurrent births of a specified calendar year.
