Idaho Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) works dynamically to ensure Idaho meets the Joint Committee on Infant Hearing (JCIH) 1-3-6 goals for Universal Newborn Hearing Screening (UNHS). Program activities ensure all newborns are screened for hearing loss prior to discharge from all birthing centers, receive appropriate pediatric audiology testing, and are tracked to ensure delivery of follow-up services in a timely and accurate manner. These actions ensure all infants with hearing loss in Idaho attain developmental progress equal to their hearing peers. With a consistent screening rate of 97% and a successful Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA) proven to reduce Loss to Follow-up (LTF) currently spread throughout the state, Idaho EHDI will now focus on improvements regarding timeliness, accuracy and completeness of diagnostic and Early Intervention (EI) reporting. Thorough program evaluation will be completed annually by the Idaho EHDI Advisory Committee (AC). Idaho EHDI efforts include:?Maintain quality of the data and lead strategic actions for continuous program improvement?Optimize the EHDI ? Information System. Maintain the collection and management of hearing screening data and the electronic exchange of demographic data between Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Information System (EHDI-IS) and Idaho Vital Records (VR). Collaborate with Idaho State University (ISU) and Idaho Educational Services for the Deaf and Blind (IESDB) to create an interface between EHDI-IS and ISU?s database for EI assessment data.?Promote and support collaboration with stakeholders around tracking and surveillance activities within the program?s jurisdiction and provide technical assistance during the reporting process. ?Develop data reports and disseminate information to internal and external stakeholders.
