The purpose of the Garrett County CARA Project is to collaborate with and equip members of the Drug-Free Communities Coalition, Youth in Action Teams, and community planning groups to change the culture and context regarding acceptability of youth use and misuse of opioid, methamphetamine, and prescription drugs in Garrett County, thereby reducing their use. Evidence-based and practice-based strategies have been selected that will enhance the ability of existing groups to influence youth norms and behaviors regarding drug use. These strategies include youth engagement, family-based prevention, and community prevention programs designed to reach populations in multiple settings.
