Enhancing STI and Sexual Health Clinic Infrastructure (ESSHCI) - Project Abstract Chase Brexton respectfully requests funding to reduce rates of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) in Baltimore City by expanding access to culturally and linguistically competent sexual health services for priority populations including: African America men who have sex with men; Transgender women; Injection drug users; African American heterosexual cis-women; Hispanic/Latino LGBTQ-identifying persons; LGBTQ-identifying adolescents and young adults; Individuals experiencing homelessness and/or housing insecurity, Individuals engaged in commercial sex work, and Persons who are currently and/or recently incarcerated. To Achieve the project outcomes, Chase Brexton will use Strategies A, B, and C, including developing and implementing a designated Community Sexual Health Clinic at our Mt. Vernon Center in Baltimore City that will be available to community members five days per week. As part of this five-year project, Chase Brexton will also develop and facilitate an ongoing consumer advisory board that reflects the target populations and communities disproportionately impacted by sexually transmitted infections within the service area. The Community Sexual Health Clinic will be planned and implemented in collaboration with the newly developed consumer advisory board to promote access to care, as well as guide and improve upon the delivery of high-quality culturally competent sexual health services. Chase Brexton will also explore alternative methods of delivering care to further reduce barriers to sexual health services within the service area, such as mailing free test kits for sexually transmitted infections to community members, utilizing the mobile van, and using telehealth to provide risk reduction and treatment adherence counseling. Under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer and Director, Program Business Development, funds will be allocated to hire a 1.0 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) Program Manager & Community Liaison to plan, develop, and implement the Community Sexual Health Clinic, as well as a dedicated Sexual Health Patient Care Team, including two Sexual Health Clinic Registered Nurses, and one Clinical Pharmacy Specialist. Chase Brexton will also allocate funds to support the costs of recruiting program participants and community members for the consumer advisory board; screenings, test kits, vaccines, treatment medications, and lab costs associated with sexually transmitted infections; marketing; general supplies; and partial salary and fringe support for the Business Intelligence Analyst and the Director of Program Business Development for program monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
