The St. Louis CARS project will bridge multiple jurisdictions, convening authorities and governing councils to focus specifically on policies and practices that influence the sexual health of young Black men aged 18-29 disproportionately burdened by STD/HIV. Systems-level impact will be achieved by developing interventions and policy recommendations that center the authority and knowledge of grassroots partners, invite authentic engagement and power sharing with the focus population, promote cultural humility, and shift narratives to reduce stigma and promote optimum sexual health among young Black men, MSM and YMSM. This project leverages existing Community Advisory Boards (CABs) to conduct a targeted needs assessment, develop strategies for addressing social determinants of health, strengthen and formalize cross sector partnerships, increase access to STD/HIV services, develop and implement a sexual health messaging campaign, and provide cultural competency training for stakeholders and providers.
