The Center for Health Training (CHT) of Austin, Texas, a not for profit, tax paying 100% women owned health training organization will partner with Grambling State University, a Historically Black College and University located in Grambling, Louisiana to deploy a minimum of twelve student peer educators to provide campus-based HIV prevention education. Peer leaders will utilize the SiHLE HIV intervention - a gender specific and culturally appropriate group behavioral intervention developed by Gina Wingood, Ph.D. of Emory University. Evidenced-Based Intervention: SiHLE has been modified to be a two 2-hour session HIV sexual-risk reduction intervention designed for long term maintenance of HIV-preventive sexual behaviors. Core content includes assertiveness and self-protective skills including abstinence promotion, and proper condom use, gender & cultural pride. Peer educators will conduct focused outreach and recruitment of female students for the SIHLE workshops. The SiHLE workshops will be offered in tandem with the provision of classroom, dorm and campus-based group education. A special effort will be made early in the year to meet with female social and academic organizations to discuss enrollment of their membership in SiHLE Goals & Objectives CHT and the GSU staff have agreed that the two primary goals of this project are to effectively address the HIV information needs of students, and build peer support for learning how to communicate and implement self-protective strategies to reduce the possibility of HIV transmission. ¿ Goal #1 seeks to address the information needs of students as they relate to HIV transmission modes, the physiology of women¿s anatomy and why that contributes to women¿s HIV vulnerability, other STIs and their co-relation to HIV, protective barrier methods, and other psychosocial dynamics that may contribute to HIV susceptibility. ¿ Goal #2 moves beyond information provision and seeks to increase awareness and pe
