The University of Chicago Medical Trauma Center and our institutional partners support the aims of Mission Zero Act. The approach is to sustain a robust military-civilian partnership. The goal of this project is to support military medical provider readiness and enhance civilian medical provider capacities to respond to national and public health crises. Our specific objectives are to 1) provide comprehensive clinical opportunities for military providers in all roles to maintain and improve their clinical skills through embedded positions; 2) develop robust rotational programs for providers to improve on specific skills and provide opportunities for providers to repeat these programs over time to maintain skills 3) create supplemental skill development activities with objective performance measures such as surgical technique simulation labs, observed clinical encounters, and team based simulations. The expected outcomes of this project are 1) military providers embedded at UCMC will have clinical case volumes meeting or exceeding targets required for Med-JKSA measures 2) providers participating in short term rotating projects will be able to demonstrate skill maintenance from clinical activity logs and reports from evaluated simulation exercises and observed clinical encounters. The products expected from this project are 1)Med-JKSAs calculated clinical case logs from embedded providers 2) evaluations from observed clinical experiences and standardized simulation cases.
