The Three Affiliated Tribes is seeking to address demand for health services for existing health disparities and increase its impact on the opioid epidemic in the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation which claims the lives of nine (9) community members within in a 9 month period in 2020. Through the enhancement of support services for prevention, treatment, and recovery the MHA MAT Model of Care along with collaborative efforts we can fully support the needs of our patients and communities suffering from addiction and other ailments associated with opioid addiction and misuse. The main goals are to: 1. Continue to add to the tribes Strategic plan to address the opioid crisis that addresses prevention, treatment, and recovery. 2. Make MAT Accessible to members of the Three Affiliated Tribes a. Train workforce in Medication Assisted Treatment and training of Behavioral health personnel in Evidence Based practices Motivational Interviewing, Contingency Management, Community Reinforcement, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. b. Educate the EMHC workforce and Emergency Services as well as community members on protocols for the administration of Naloxone. c. Develop and modify current protocol for the case management and track of clients who request or require MAT to include Evidence Based Practices mentioned above. 3. Develop referral processes from primary care providers to behavioral health staff for those at high risk of substance abuse as pertains to opioids and mental health and wellness. a. Increase the knowledge and confidence in following referral processes and workflow by annually assessing our workforce by using the RCIS Referral Services Program and Icare EHR RPMS. 4. Improve care and outcomes for individuals who are at risk for overdose and death associated with the opioid epidemic will case managing MAT and assisting patient with support services. a. Outcomes will be tracked via case management through the development of an Opioid specific patient registry to be developed. b. Establish Behavioral Health Services for Telemedicine for improved access. 5. Sustainability a. Enroll clients in private, state, and/or federally funded insurance programs will help in the sustainability of tribal organizational MAT Program. Elbowoods Memorial Health Center we will assess our objectives at regular intervals (i.e. every 3 months) and utilize the implementation team to create continued advocacy and longevity for the project. b. Continue to collaborate with partners for a multidisciplinary approach to Prevention, Intervention, Treatment, and Recovery associated with stimulants and opioids.
