GTB Tribal Opioid Project. Service Area Population: 687 2-year grant – October 1, 2018 - September 30, 2020 Project Goal: Develop and provide opioid misuse prevention, treatment and recovery support services to address the opioid abuse and overdose crisis using culturally appropriate prevention, treatment, and recovery services including medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to reduce unmet treatment need and opioid overdose related deaths. Strategy: Provide effective integrated cultural prevention, intervention and treatment modalities within the Behavioral Health Program in the treatment of opioid abuse while partnering with local and regional resources. Objectives: • Complete a comprehensive strategic plan for GTB within 60 days • Provide Educational Trainings to ensure that staff are well versed in strategies to prevent and treat opioid misuse. • Develop effective prevention strategies that provides outreach to the tribal community and promotes knowledge of Narcan as a harm reduction tool in preventing overdose. • Continue to provide on-going out-patient therapy, intervention, and referrals that facilitate positive treatment outcomes and long-term recovery to our current 44 opioid diagnosis clients with a goal of serving 80 within the lifetime of the grant. • Initiate a peer recovery coach position that fills an unmet need in our current services to increase the success rate of recovery for the opioid clients. GTB is requesting a part-time Peer recovery coach as a new position in BH. • Provide referral assistance to clients needing a higher level of treatment collaborating with our current approved detox and residential treatment providers to ensure the most cost-effective rate and meeting eligibility criteria. • Provide basic household and hygiene necessities to assist those in transition from treatment, incarceration and homelessness. • Develop a working partnership with our area Tribal Epidemiology Centers to assess the impact of the grant. • Increase the access to culturally appropriate ceremonies and traditional practitioners on a consistent basis.
