The Partnership for Health Coalition, located in Hunterdon County NJ, plans under this funding through the Drug Free Communities grant to; Goal 1, Increase community collaboration, coordination, and community-based networking to prevent youth substance abuse and DFC goal 2 Reduce youth substance abuse 18 years and under of Alcohol and Marijuana/Vaping. The Partnership for Health Coalition serves a region within Hunterdon County (HC), with a population of 64,020 that is incredibly beautiful and quiet suburban living. HC, which recently celebrated its 300th birthday, is located an hour west of New York City and an hour northeast of Philadelphia. The county is very diverse with farm land, small municipalities, and towns covering 437 square miles. There are 26 municipalities within the region; these municipalities range from pockets of rural and sparsely populated to some heavier thriving towns. The coalition region is comprised of the 13 most populated municipalities. The county seat and center of our region is Flemington, which is most known for the Lindbergh kidnapping trail. While we have the lowest density outlet in the state for alcohol, youth have no problem obtaining others to purchase. A big local shift from recent years where alcohol was the number one reason teens were in treatment has now become marijuana. Three medical marijuana dispensaries in the state have opened in the last two years decreasing the perception of harm.
