The Nooksack Indian Tribe is implementing a Suicide Prevention Project to decrease the number of suicides and suicide attempts to zero, and to reduce suicide ideation among young people by 20% each year of the project. This will be done through the use of a "Knock and Talk" Outreach Worker who will be a trusted member of the community, through increased collaboration between service providers, and through the implementation of the QPR Evidence-based Practice (Question, Persuade, Refer) training which will be provided to all Nooksack Tribal employees and to the entire community. Project Name: Nooksack Suicide Prevention Project Population to be Served: Nooksack Tribal youth between the ages of 12-24, total current local population of 235 enrolled members in this age cohort. Specific goals are: 1. Reduce the incidence of suicide and suicide attempts among teens and young adults. 2. Increase community awareness about suicide in order to prevent suicide and suicide attempts. Objectives are: 1. Identify suicide risk factors specifically within the Nooksack Tribal community and using these indicators, identify and connect with high-risk individuals and families. 2. Coordinate and provide prevention, intervention, and post-vention services to individuals and groups that have attempted or are considered at high-risk of attempting suicide. 3. Plan and deliver QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) community training, education and awareness.
