The Anishnaabek Healing Circle-Native Connections project aims to reduce the suicide rate among young people (ages 0-24) who are members of two Michigan Tribes through: increasing awareness of suicide care and prevention by educating service providers and the Tribal community, training staff to better understand and treat those at risk of suicide, and by developing policies and procedures for strengthening the Tribal communities' ability to provide and maintain a positive flow through services with better outcomes reflective of greater support for clients most at-risk of suicide. We expect to reduce the suicide rate for young people by 2% per year by utilizing evidence based programming and a culturally focused approach incorporating Tribal practices, ceremonies, and values to ensure an effective and useful program.
