The Adagio Health seven-county northern West Virginia Title X project will address adverse health outcomes in the region – unintended pregnancy and its consequences for poor maternal and child health, incidence of sexually transmitted infections that can result in sterility or long-term chronic disease when undiagnosed, and the occurrence of breast & cervical cancers when preventive screenings are not obtained – resulting from significant socioeconomic and behavioral vulnerabilities, as well as limited access to care. The region includes nearly 21,000 females (ages 13-44 years) with potential demand for contraceptive services and supplies and, among these, over 4,000 women younger than 20 years. Through its northern West Virginia project, Adagio Health projects serving nearly 9,000 clients over the five-year project, of whom more than 3,200 will be adolescents (defined by this project as ages 13-19 years, inclusive). During year one of the project, Adagio Health’s northern West Virginia network will serve nearly 2,000 clients, of whom more than 600 will be adolescents. The majority of clients served in the project will be low income. Adagio Health’s northern West Virginia network will provide expanded access to the critically important preventive health services through nineteen clinical and education locations, including two mobile health units to reach clients directly in their communities. Goals for the Adagio Health project include raising awareness and expanding access to services, delivering services of the highest quality to improve health outcomes, and eliminating disparities and advancing health equity throughout our region, with a primary focus on low-income, underserved, marginalized populations. This project prioritizes the seamless continuum of care across all health domains, resulting in improved health and quality of life for residents of northern West Virginia.
