The overall goal of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s Title X Family Planning Services Program is to provide individuals the information and means to exercise personal choice in determining the number and spacing of their children and to provide access to additional health services that would lead to the overall improvement in the health of those individuals, prioritizing services to low-income and high-risk individuals. This program is a basic health service essential for the optimal and holistic health of many Kansas families that are unable to attain medical care from any other source. Within the state health department, responsibility for administering the program is assigned to Community Partnerships Unit in the Children and Families Section within the Bureau of Family Health. The mission of the Bureau is to provide leadership to enhance the health of Kansas women and children through partnerships with families and communities. The Kansas Family Planning Program has decades of experience related to providing family planning and reproductive health services in partnership with local agencies. Clinical services are provided at the community level through contracts with sub-recipients, primarily local public health departments, that have extensive knowledge and background related to the complexities of family planning and reproductive health and the provision of a variety of essential health services to ensure the optimal physical, emotional and social health of each client. An estimated 24,780 unduplicated clients will be served annually by FFY2025 in about half of the counties in Kansas.
