The Guam Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) is a major provider of health care, public health, and social services on the island. Our mission is ?To assist the people of Guam in achieving and maintaining their highest levels of independence and self-sufficiency in health and social welfare.? Our vision is ?Empowered people of healthy minds and bodies living in a safe environment throughout their lifetime.? GDPHSS is pursuing to establish the ?Guam Family Planning and Reproductive Health Project? (GFPRHP), as a safety net for individuals who are at 100%-250% Poverty Level, through the support of the Title X Family Planning Service Grant in order to support and strengthen existing family planning services in the jurisdiction. Without the support of Title X Family Planning Grant, the gap in services will lead to more unintended pregnancies and higher health care costs in our island. Family planning helps women and families plan the timing and spacing of their pregnancies, which results in better educational attainment and economic security; these, in turn, are linked to better health outcomes for women, men, and families. The need to improve access to high quality, low cost family planning and reproductive health services in a comprehensive manner for Guamanians requires collaboration and partnerships with island wide providers. Family Planning services are available at public and private clinics in the island, so the intent of Title X Planning Service Grant funds are to strengthen the delivery of family planning services and other preventive health care to low-income and uninsured individuals who may otherwise lack access to health care. Funding from PA-FPH-19-001 will be granted to a sub recipient clinical provider that will offer health exams, including: Pap Tests and Pelvic Examination, Birth Control Options and Supplies, Emergency Contraception (EC), Pregnancy Tests and Counseling, Tests for Sexually Transmitted
Diseases (STDs) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Infertility Prevention, Cancer Screening, Breast, Cervical, and Testicular, Referral to other Services and Health Education for Guamanians seeking to improve their health and well-being.
