Soares, M.D, Ph.D. Phone Number: 713-500-3999 Email Address: preaward@uth.tmc.edu Website Address, if applicable: https://med.uth.edu/psychiatry/ Funding Requested: $1,000,000.00 Total Project Cost: $6,455,000.00 In order to improve the quality of services and improve health outcomes, The University of Texas McGovern Medical School's Louis A. Faillace, MD Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences will complete a renovation to create an Imaging Center to include a 3 Tesla MRI (3T MRI), control room, equipment room and simulation labs. This project will involve renovating 1,620 square feet of our building on the first floor of our Behavioral and Biomedical Sciences facility. We will reconfigure 7 existing office spaces and patient testing areas to allow for the 3T MRI, control room, simulation rooms, and assessments areas to create a user-friendly patient experience. This project will allow us to better serve our patients by providing more access to quality services, better quality scans, as well as giving both our providers and patients the ability to have scans performed in our facility. The addition of this Imaging Center with the 3T MRI will also provide opportunities to develop programs that can lead to innovative treatments that will result in better outcomes to enhance treatment plans. We plan to complete this project within the 12 months granted by this Community Project Funding/Congressionally Direct Spending (CPF/CDS) application.
