Founded in 1971 to provide services to the Northeast San Fernando Valley, El Proyecto has expanded its services to the entire San Fernando Valley, the San Gabriel Valley and East Los Angeles. The organization infuses culturally appropriate strategies with an affirmation of family values and traditions throughout its organization and services. This approach has established El Proyecto as a trusted service provider that creates a safe and respectful environment for its clients. El Proyecto works with community organizations, cities, Los Angeles County, the State of California and the federal government, small companies and major corporations to fund comprehensive community and advocacy services for economically disadvantaged youth and adults. The six (6) El Proyecto del Barrio Inc health clinics each provide accessible and affordable health care services to the underserved population in San Fernando Valley and San Gabriel Valley communities. More than 175,000 patient visits (in person and virtual) occur each year through our clinics. Our health services include Family Practice, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Podiatry, Behavioral Health, HIV Testing and Treatment, Family Planning and Counseling, Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program, Women’s Health, Mammograms, Immunizations, Radiology, Pharmacy, Laboratory, and Dental. Project Summary The project location is the S. Mark Taper for a
Healthy Community-Winnetka Clinic, 20800 Sherman Way, Winnetka, CA 91306. This project is a reconfiguration of the existing interior space of the clinic. The Winnetka clinic is a three (3) story building with a total of 27,423 square feet of interior space. The area proposed for improvements is within a portion of the 9,141 square foot second floor of the building. This project-specific area includes approximately 3,500 square feet (please see Attachment 3). The proposal is to take the current office space and convert it into eight (8) medical exam rooms for pediatric and OB/GYN patient care, including an accompanying patient-waiting area and ‘hub’ for administrative and medical staff, as well as storage and specialty space. This renovated area will be adjacent to a pharmacy and dental office suite, which are both located on the same floor. The proposed start date of work, post Notice of Award, is August 20, 2022, with an end/completion date of July 9, 2024, for a total of 96 weeks. This timeline accounts for the complexity of the project and includes typical, anticipated delays experienced due to the inspections and permitting processes in the city of Los Angeles. Within our submitted SF424C budget, equipment costs totaling $219,107 will address the purchase of clinical and non-clinical equipment essential to provide the services indicated, and the balance of $1,191,000 represent project expenses including architectural & engineering, inspection fees, demo, construction, general conditions (OH&P), project supervision, and contingency costs.
