The State of Connecticut Office of the Healthcare Advocate (OHA) submits its proposal for an Affordable Care Act Consumer Assistance Grant to increase OHA?s capacity to provide outstanding assistance and outreach to Connecticut?s healthcare and health insurance consumers. OHA has a successful history of educating consumers about their healthcare rights and responsibilities, and enforcing those rights. Our success has put over $20 million back into the pockets of Connecticut?s healthcare consumers. OHA is ready to bring our success and the promise of healthcare reform under the Affordable Care Act to all of CT. OHA requests a grant in the amount to $468,180 to achieve that goal. OHA proposes to add three additional case managers and one outreach coordinator/data analyst to our staff. The three additional case managers, a nurse consultant, an insurance examiner and a licensed clinical social worker, will provide the highest level of service quality and expertise to the much greater numbe
