Building a Community of Practice Through Language Resources Project - The Building a Community of Practice Through Language Resources Project by the Comanche Language and Cultural Preservation Committee (CLCPC), an independent nonprofit organization founded in 1993, is a three-year project to expand access to Comanche language learning resources. With fewer than 10 first-language speakers remaining, the project aims to create high-quality materials available both online and in homes. The initiative will develop three main components: a redesigned website featuring 60 interactive mini-games, a three-volume set of immersion-based language workbooks with 45 lessons each, and a searchable digital archive containing at least 36 processed audio-visual recordings. The project will employ a Media Specialist to manage digital content and an Administrative Assistant to support operations. The curriculum will be modeled on proven methods from the Salish School of Spokane, with lessons available through Transparent Language Online. Materials will be housed in CLCPC's Mukurtu-based digital platform, ensuring appropriate community access protocols. This initiative builds on CLCPC's 30-year history of language work and aims to create a strong foundation for future generations of Comanche speakers through quality learning tools.
