The Tarjan Center at UCLA UCEDD, 2022-2027 - The UCLA Tarjan Center University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Applicant Name: Regents of the University of California, Los Angeles Principal Investigator: Elizabeth Laugeson, Psy.D. The mission of the University of California Los Angeles Tarjan Center, University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities is to advance the self-determination, and quality of life among people with disabilities and their families. In partnership with people with developmental disabilities and their families, DD Network Partners, and community stakeholders, we will address the needs of Californians with developmental disabilities through a range of programs focused on mental and physical health, postsecondary education, and employment. The goals and objectives of this project reflect our commitment to implementation of the core functions of the DD Act to: 1) increase the knowledge and skills of undergraduate, pre-service, and postdoctoral trainees in the provision of services, supports, and advocacy for people with DD and their families; 2) expand the professional workforce capacity to deliver high quality, evidence-based services and supports; 3) expand community capacity to provide postsecondary education, employment, and health services and supports; 4) increase access to high quality multi-disciplinary clinical services for children and adults with autism spectrum disorder and neurodevelopmental disorders; 5) conduct research activities that positively impacts the health and wellbeing of people with developmental disabilities; and 6) facilitate the widespread usage of research-supported practices, policies, clinical services, resources, and public awareness materials from the Tarjan Center, DD Network Partners, and UCEDD network that positively impact the lives of people with developmental disabilities and their families. Our products are training, an annual conference, podcast, technical assistance, community collaborations, clinical services, publications, websites, and stories of success.
