Wisconsin Implementation of School-Based Services Expansion beyond IEP/IFSP Services - The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Medicaid Services (DMS) is applying for Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services State Grants for the Implementation, Enhancement, and Expansion of Medicaid and CHIP School-Based Services (SBS) in the Implementation category. Wisconsin Medicaid has yet to implement SBS beyond services listed in a child’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) and will use grant funds to implement SBS for all Medicaid enrolled children. The goals of the grant project are to: - Expand the coverage of, and billing for, services provided in schools beyond that which is provided pursuant to a student’s IEP. - Update SBS policy and guidance for Medicaid members and providers. - Support new and existing SBS providers with policy and technical assistance resources to support service provision to all Medicaid enrolled students. - Improve the accuracy and efficiency of provider billing. - Comply with federal SBS requirements. DMS will use the $2.5 million budget over three years to: - Hire two program staff to manage implementation of SBS. - Expand capacity of fiscal agent and revenue maximization vendors to: implement communications and training on policy updates, implement claims system changes, manage cost reporting maintenance and training, and monitor compliance.
