This project's goal is to increase the numbers and the cpacity of the social workers, advocates and allies working in the field of preventing and treating dometsic vioelnce in Hispanic communities in the southern border region on NM and Western TX through five objectives. 1) research, develop and implement a cutting edge, culturally competent DV traingin and skills bilding program for BSW adn MSW students through a field training program and the development course emphasizing cultural content on DV prevention, treatment, and research. 2) Implement 2 field placements on the BSW and MSW level. 3) Develop a DV stipend program for a total of 26 prolmising BSW and MSW students over a 3 year perioed. 4) Identify different approaches to prevention, identification of, and the treatment efforts for DV in Hispanic famlies and creat a workbook on different approaches using the experiences of the agencies and students in the project. 5) Engage in efforts to impact DV prevention services, intervention efforts, policies and practice for Hispanic families on the national/state/local governmental and non-profit agency level through outreach, dissemination of workbooks, articles and presentations and attendance at national conferences on DV adn presentation of papers or workshops.
