Proposed Project: The Appalachian Region Healthcare Technical Assistance Center ('The Center') proposed by the Rural Health Redesign Center Organization, Inc. (RHRCO) is in response to the Notice of Funding (NOFO) HRSA-24-119 Appalachian Region Healthcare Support Program released by Heath Resources and Administrative Services. The Center will provide customized technical assistance (TA) to help rural healthcare organizations, including critical access hospitals (CAHs), small rural hospitals, rural health clinics, tribal healthcare facilities, and other healthcare organizations located in the rural counties served by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) with planning and implementing healthcare service improvements. The TA provided by The Center will strengthen the healthcare delivery in rural areas throughout the Appalachian Region by building capacity in the rural healthcare organizations, with a focus on improving financial and operational performance, as well as quality of care. The Center will provide in-depth, customized TA to rural healthcare organizations utilizing a robust selection process and streamlined TA Pathway program. This assistance will aim to enhance and expand new service lines that will address local medical needs, increase service volume and revenue, and ensure the continued availability of healthcare services in rural areas. By addressing local healthcare needs, the program will seek to ensure that vital health services remain available within rural communities, thus mitigating hospital bypass and enhancing patient care delivery. The Center’s impact on rural communities is significant, as it ensures the availability of vital health services and enhances patient care delivery, thereby improving the overall health of the community. The RHRCO has extensive experience in providing TA to rural healthcare providers, specializing in areas such as fiscal management, operational efficiency, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and clinical service expansion. The organization will utilize its established network of nationally recognized rural hospital experts, including staff with over a century of hands-on rural hospital operations and healthcare expertise. Additionally, the organization partners with best-in-class vendors and technical experts to ensure comprehensive, high-quality, and rural-relevant TA is delivered. This existing infrastructure, dedication to actionable rural-relevant solutions, and emphasis on innovation and capacity building, ensures that RHRCO can efficiently and effectively deliver tailored technical assistance to meet the unique needs of rural healthcare organizations in the Appalachian Region.
