The Tonkawa Tribe will complete an in-depth planning phase to identify potential Programs, Services, Functions, and Activities for management. - The Tonkawa Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma is a federally recognized Tribe. The Tribe provides essential services the tribal community, but there are limitations in the ability to adapt and tailor services to the unique cultural and social determinants of health within the Tonkawa Tribe community. Participation in the Tribal Self-Governance Program (TSGP) is a critical next step in realizing the Tribe's vision for comprehensive, culturally relevant healthcare tailored to the specific needs of its members. This Planning Cooperative Agreement is essential to facilitate the necessary legal, budgetary, and organizational research and planning required to successfully transition to a Self-Governance model under Title V of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (ISDEAA). The project's overall goal is to prepare the Tonkawa Tribe to transition to a Self-Governance model for healthcare programs. This will enable the Tribe to control the design and delivery of services to its members. The Tribe will form a Planning team to accomplish the objectives of the Planning Grant. Objectives of our project include conducting Comprehensive Research and Analysis. The development of a PSFA Identification and Incorporation Process. The Planning Team will also Evaluate Current Services and Management Decisions to determine program assumption. And lastly the Tribe will create a Self-Governance Readiness Plan. The Tonkawa Tribe is eager to begin this journey toward greater self-determination and to further enhance the health and well-being of its members through the implementation of a comprehensive, culturally appropriate Self-Governance healthcare system.
