Healthy Futures of Texas Talk About It Texas Advancing Equity Project
With clear direction for Talk About It Texas (TAIT), a project of Healthy Futures of Texas (HFTX), TAIT aims to close gaps in access to sexual health education, increase equitable access to healthcare, harness community mobilization and drive public awareness through a multi-pronged approach of 1) Health Education, 2) Awareness, and 3) Training and Technical Assistance grounded in the Collective Impact Model. Geographic areas with a high incidence of unintended teen pregnancy are often the same areas in which social determinants of health, including racism, operate to adversely impact the health and economics of communities.
Using established relationships needed to listen to the needs of the communities and to scale the work in communities with the greatest need, the three regions HFTX has identified for participation in this intervention show high levels of need around adolescent sexual health outcomes: the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) (including Hidalgo, Starr, Cameron and Willacy Counties); Bexar County (San Antonio); and Dallas County.
