Promise 2.0 Initiative - The Promise 2.0 Initiative is a multi-component project designed to improve sexual and reproductive health outcomes, promote positive youth development and advance health equity for adolescents, families, and their community.
ABSTRACT SUMMARY
Teen HYPE (Helping Youth by Providing Education) is a positive youth development program located in Detroit Michigan that has successfully empowered and educated teens in Detroit since 2004. Detroit teens have double the teen pregnancy rate, almost four times the chlamydia rate and over five times the gonorrhea rate of other youth their age in Michigan and the nation.
Teen HYPE’s commitment to equitable, safe, supportive, and inclusive programs starts with our commitment to centering youth voice. Co-creating safe space with young people is a pillar of Teen HYPE values and is held in high regard. Youth sit with equal power and authority in Teen HYPE’s boardroom they lead our Youth Advisory Council.
With funding from the Office of Population Affairs, Teen HYPE will implement the Promise 2.0 Initiative, a multi-component project designed to improve sexual and reproductive health outcomes, promote positive youth development and advance health equity for adolescents, families, and their community. Promise 2.0 consists of: 1) three Evidence Based Programs (EBP), 2) the Promise Collaborative/Youth Advisory Council, 4) Teen HYPE’s Engaging Web-Site and Family Resource Guide, 5) Teacher/Host Engagement Event and 5) ParentHOOD Podcast.
Teen HYPE and our replication partners will implement three EBPs: Safer Sex Intervention, Love Notes, and Teen Outreach Project; in three settings: adolescent clinics, schools, and community-based organizations.
