Ntarupt the System for Optimal Adolescent Health - For six years, Ntarupt has been working in neighborhoods in Dallas where resources are thin and need is great, and many zip codes have teen birth rates that are double to quadruple the national teen birth rate. Ntarupt and its Alliance members provide a variety of resources, addressing multiple needs of adolescents.. For this project, Ntarupt will work within two charter school systems serving youth in need mainly in Dallas County, and also in Tarrant County - Uplift Education and Texans Can Academies. Our framework for this grant will directly address the components of optimal health for teens. In this work, we will provide A) Evidence-based sexual health programs to adolescents, and engage teens as learners and leaders through a Youth Advisory Board. Our systems mapping drives us to address additional leverage points causing inequity in our system through this project. Our public awareness campaign, Talk About It Dallas (TAID), will provide additional resources to youth and caregivers. B) Awareness of state and local policies: through our Community Advisory Group, our relationships with the school systems, and TAID, we will provide information on policies in the state and school systems. C) Internal Policies and Safe Spaces. We will work within UPLIFT and CAN to ensure policies and efficacy in creating safe spaces and trusted adults. D) Support for Teachers and School Personnel: Working directly with school staff, we will help clarify roles, ensure students are supported and offer training and information to youth serving adults. E) Restorative Education and Healthcare Linkages: Create and provide restorative education to students receiving effective programs to maximize uptake of medical resources. F) Support for parents: Ntarupt will offer evidence-based parent/caregiver education, and get parent input through participation on a Community Advisory Group.
