The McLean County Adult Drug Court and the McLean County Recovery Court, in collaboration with McLean County Court Services, the Center for Youth and Family Solutions, Chestnut Health Systems and various criminal justice and community and state partners, propose to develop an integrated, client driven system of behavioral health care that improves outcomes for justice-involved adults in McLean County with substance use or co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. The proposed project will build upon the success of the McLean County Adult Drug Court and the McLean County Recovery Court. Existing programs will be leveraged to promote major systems transformation. Expansion includes: 1) Expansion of co-occurring disorders into the adult drug court. Enhancements include: 2) The development of a unified problem solving courts infrastructure that will provide formalized processes to enhance the performance and sustainability of the McLean County problem solving courts and improve interagency collaboration 3) The promotion of service integration by incorporating new behavioral health treatments, peer, and recovery support services that are evidence-based and consumer-driven 4) Comprehensive evaluation of the McLean County problem solving courts resulting in broadening evidence-based practice and knowledge and leading to continuous quality improvement. The project objectives are to prevent and reduce relapse, reduce recidivism, and promote sustained recovery and self-sufficiency among participants enrolled in either the McLean County Drug Court or the McLean County Recovery Court. Consistent with national findings, participants will likely have a high level of exposure to current or past trauma (30% to 60%) and all participants will have a substance use or co-occurring substance use and mental health diagnosis. A total of 159 participants will be served over the lifetime of the grant.
