Safe Harbor - Community Counseling of Bristol County's (CCBC's) "Safe Harbor" is a trauma informed program for all homeless veterans and all chronically homeless individuals in southeastern Massachusetts who struggle with substance use or co-occurring mental and substance use disorders. Safe Harbor will serve 35 clients annually and 120 over the life of the project by providing integrated and evidence-based services, including: Permanent Supportive Housing, using a Housing First approach and case management services to help clients access supports, including health insurance, health and social services, education, and employment resources; screening and assessment for substance use and co-occurring mental and substance use disorders; behavioral health treatment, including "Seeking Safety," which will be offered to all participants to address trauma; and Peer Support to provide guidance, support, empowerment, and hope from a trained peer counselor. CCBC's Steering Committee for the Safe Harbor program will include a variety of critical participants to ensure success as the program progresses. In partnership with CCBC's extensive network of service providers across the region, Safe Harbor will offer culturally-appropriate, holistic, integrated, evidence-based, and trauma-informed services that will enable program clients to achieve improved health and mental health, greater safety, and increased self-sufficiency.
