The SUPPORT Program - Susan B. Anthony Recovery Center (SBARC) is uniquely positioned to provide substance abuse treatment to this underserved population. Since 1995 SBARC has been addressing the treatment needs and unique barriers to entry experienced by PPW as the only program in Broward County and one of a handful in Florida to provide organized substance abuse treatment services for women and their minor children, allowing women seeking recovery while residing with their children in a safe and secure setting. SBARC is proposing to join with community partners in an effort to expand and enhance their proven core services to further engage and embrace this underserved population and help fill the desperate need facing these Broward families in crisis. The proposed SUPPORT program intends to positively and significantly affect PPW and their families by Strengthening and Unifying Pregnant and Parenting Opportunities for Recovery and Transformation. The SUPPORT program will provide structured assistance at weak points within the continuum of care, particularly at the initial point of entry. This will be accomplished through strategic service enhancements that include intensified outreach efforts targeting new marginalized disparate populations, significantly broadened pre-treatment services with community linkages and expanded family engagement during residential treatment.
