Indiana Addictions Issues Coalition proposes to develop an infrastructure for peer recovery support services in Indiana. Project PEERS - Peer Empowerment Effects Recovery Services will result in the development of a state-accepted credential for Peer Recovery Specialist, training of 150 Peer Recovery Coaches, and infrastructure development activities for 30 Recovery Community Organizations to increase their use of Peer Recovery Support Services. Persons in recovery from the disease of addiction in Indiana is the primary population to be served. Indiana Recovery Community Organizations will receive training and technical assistance to more fully implement peer recovery support services. Goals of the PEERS project include: development of a more culturally and linguistically competent addictions recovery workforce; increased number of Peer Recovery Coaches; development of a collective statewide approach to promote peer recovery support services; increase the infrastructure; and development and use of educational and social media promotional materials.
