COPE Community Services Project STAR (Sustaining Treatment and Recovery) will address a critical service gap for substance abuse treatment in Pima County, AZ. The project will provide evidence based (EB) trauma-informed treatment to address risk and vulnerability among minority women to support expanded services for those who are at high risk for HIV/AIDS. Project STAR will serve 180 adult/racial/ethnic minority women over a 3 year period. COPE will implement two recommended EB practices: MI and Seeking Safety. Project STAR will help prepare, support and guide clients through a process of recovery. The main goals are: to expand Pima County's treatment capacity through EB outpatient treatment for minority women; to deliver EB, trauma-informed outpatient treatment, recovery services, and care coordination to minority women; to reduce health disparities and improve reintegration indicators among minority women in Pima County with particular attention to outcomes achieved by sexual and ethnic minority subpopulations.
