Santa Barbara County's proposed Clean and Sober Drug Court (CSDC) Program will enhance the capacity of the Substance Abuse Treatment Court (SATC) in the City of Santa Barbara by providing enhanced substance abuse and mental health treatment to drug court participants who present for co-occurring disorders in addition to substance dependence. The rising use of alcohol and other drugs coupled with co-occurring mental health disorders has far eclipsed capacity for treatment in both Santa Barbara County and in the city of Santa Barbara. SB County has seen its COD population soar to over 70% over the past several years. The CSDC program will address the need for cognitive behavioral therapy and integrated mental health services for substance dependents with co-occurring mental health disorders, including gender-based treatment of disorders, such as PTSD, that are the result of trauma. CSDC uses two evidence-based programs: Matrix Intensive Outpatient Treatment Model and Seeking Safety curriculum. Drug court referrals will be screened and assessed and those with signs and symptoms of mental health disorders will receive Intensive Case Management, Matrix Treatment and Seeking Safety trauma-informed services.
