The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services' Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Services is a New ATR applicant to RFA No. TI-l 0-008, ATR. The New Hampshire Access To Recovery Initiative (NHATRI) will reduce health disparities for NH adults by providing client-centered care to individuals with substance use disorders (SUDs) as defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) IV. The goal of NHATRI project is to increase the number of individuals accessing treatment and recovery support services, increase the number of individuals in long-term recovery, and expand NH's service capacity to meet the individual needs of clients through effective case management, client choice, and reduced barriers to care. Three target populations were prioritized for the first two years of the grant and include prisoners re-entering communities from state correctional facilities (re-entry), multiple Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) offenders (pre-entry) and veterans returning from military service in Iraq and Afghanistan (veterans). Fully operational, the NHATRI will serve an average of 1,000 adults per year (4,000 across four years) seeking long-term recovery from substance use disorders through expanded outpatient treatment, including treatment for co-occurring disorders, and for recovery support services including peer recovery coaching and ancillary services such as transportation and child care.
