Kettering Medical Center (KMC) SBIRT Residency Program will serve Dayton, Ohio, and the surrounding counties with a population of 1.35 million where there's evidence of a 10% rate of substance abuse involvement. The program will develop and implement level one and two training programs teaching residents how to practice SBIRT and integrate SBIRT into the curriculum. Non-residents and physicians will be trained regionally in SBIRT practices. The intent is to screen 90% of patients entering the KMC system by year three and provide brief interventions to 80% between years one and three. SBIRT will also be promoted regionally through semi-annual trainings.
