MHC has received Sponsoring Institution accreditation, and applied for the Family Medicine residency program in May 2022 receiving an initial ACGME program site visit in July 2022. MHC expects to hear a final accreditation decision by the ACGME by early November 2022. As part of the process for applying for the Family Medicine residency, MHC has designated its primary care training location as MHC Healthcare, located in the south side of Marana. MHC Healthcare serves a wide array of populations with diverse backgrounds, primarily serving young families and pediatric patients, with a strong focus on Behavioral Health and integrative health care. The service area population can be broken down as follows: 51.1% Caucasian or white; 39% Hispanic; and 9.9% either Black/African American, Asian, and American Indian/Alaskan Native. MHC is a new Teaching Health Center requesting a total of 12.0 resident FTE positions to be funded under this program for all post-graduate years of training starting in Academic Year 2023-2024. For the AY 2023-20
24, MHC is requesting 4.0 resident FTES to be funded (4-0-0). The residents in the MFMR program will be doing most of their inpatient medicine and subspecialty rotations at Tucson Medical Center, the main partnering hospital site of the program. This hospital rotation site has provided resident training in prior Academic Years and is not GME-naive.
