Teaching Health Center Planning and Development Program - Banyan Community Health Center, Inc. d/b/a Banyan Health Systems (Banyan or BCHC), an FQHC with seven locations in the Miami, FL area, in partnership with Florida International University (FIU) propose to develop a sustainable community-based psychiatry residency program that utilizes an integrated primary and behavioral health care focus that will be accredited by ACGME. This residency is designed to train utilizing Banyans expanded access to treatment, improved adherence to, and quality and integration of licensed treatment for substance use disorders (SUD), SUD prevention, serious emotional disturbance (SED), serious mental illness (SMI), and co-occurring mental and substance use disorders (COD). The goal is to advance comprehensive, integrated, care-coordinated, person-centered, recovery- and trauma-informed treatment and services, which address health disparities—and is community based.
