The main primary care training location is within the FQHC-LAL The Wright Center for Community Health (TWCCH). TWCCH Scranton Clinical will be the family medicine practice, or FMP, which is the primary care training location for Family Medicine programs. The Wright Center enterprise serves Northeast Pennsylvania in both urban and HRSA-designated rural settings. According to the most recent Health Center Program Uniform Data System (UDS) report, TWCCH served 28,187 patients through 113,648 clinic visits and 11,6600 virtual/telehealth visits. The seven-county FM program service area has higher than state and national averages for many chronic diseases such as heart disease and cancer, opiate misuse and overdose, and concentrated poverty. Infrastructure for culturally sensitive care is underdeveloped and glaringly inadequate, given the changing demographics related to increasing immigration within TWCCH’s service area. Over 35 languages are spoken within the Scranton School District. The service area has higher than state and national averages for many chronic diseases, opiate misuse and overdose, and concentrated poverty. Total resident FTE positions requested to be funded under this program for all post- graduate years of training, e.g., 12 (4-4-4) resident FTE above the baseline resident FTEs trained by the program in the prior AY; use AY 2024-2025. 18 (6-6-6) Resident FTE positions requested to be funded under this program for the first AY of Funding 6 (6-0-0) use AY 2025-2026.
