Russell Street Dental Clinic, operated by the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) School of Dentistry (SoD), is a 12-operatory facility that has provided access to dental services for PLWH for nearly 40 years. We are the provider of choice for PLWH in our community. Many of our users view RSC as their dental / medical home and are long term clients. The latest HRSA (Health Resources and Services Administration) Site Visit rated RSC as 'outstanding' for undergraduate and graduate training and facilities. All pre-doctoral dental students and General Practice Residency (GPR) residents are based at OHSU (Oregon Health & Science University) School of Dentistry (2730 S Moody Ave, Portland, OR 97201) and rotate for one (1) week, at least once, through Russell Street Dental Clinic (RSC-214 N Russell St, Portland, OR 97217) as well as other sites across Oregon. RSC is a community-based program located in a dental health professional shortage area. The assigned students and residents provide direct patient care at both sites under faculty supervision. From July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023, Russell Street Dental Clinic provided oral health care to 516 PLWH, 86% of whom were at least 300% under the Federal Poverty Level. Due to patients' low-income status and un- or underinsured coverage, OHSU has identified $302,977 in unreimbursed costs for the time period.
